Savory Spiced Buttermilk Biscuits

Sopping syrup with buttered biscuits was an occasional treat at our breakfast table. My sister Yvette and I have created a mildly spiced drop buttermilk biscuit recipe for your enjoyment. She also has provided some budget saving tips to make key ingredients instead of buying them at the store.

🎉**Budget Saving Tips**🎉

Homemade Buttermilk

1 Cup Milk

1 Tbsp White Vinegar or Lemon

Juice. Mix everything together

and let it sit for several minutes.

Self Rising Flour

1 Cup All Purpose Flour

1 Tsp Baking Powder

1/4 Tsp Salt (Table Salt for Baking)


  • 2 Cups Self Rising Flour

  • 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda

  • 1/2 Tsp Salt

  • 1 Tsp Sugar

  • 2 ½ Tsp RFS Smooth & Mellow spice blend

  • 1 Stick Butter - Melted & cooled (melt butter slowly don't separate the butter)

  • 4 Tbsp Butter set aside

  • 1 Cup Buttermilk

  • Favorite jam, marmalade or syrup

One Ice Cream Scoop – Placed in freezer one hour prior to scooping biscuit dough to reduce sticking.

Move oven rack to top level in the oven and pre heat oven to 450 degrees.

Line baking trays with parchment paper.

In mixing bowl combine and mix dry ingredients.

In a separate bowl mix together cool melted butter and cold butter milk.

Add liquid to dry ingredients and mix with rubber spatula. Scrap bowl to combine and make drop biscuit dough. Do not over mix!

Use ice cream scoop to drop round dough balls onto parchment lined baking sheets.

Bake 12 – 15 minutes until golden brown and delicious

Serve with butter and your favorite sweet condiment

Makes 8 to 10 biscuits
